CME’s South West Manager, Sharon Upston, was invited to take part in the Bunbury Geographe CCI International Women’s Day Afternoon Tea, co-hosted by the Hon Don Punch MLA.
The event was held at the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury, to recognise and support women in leadership roles, as well as emerging female leaders in the South West community.
Sharon (second from right in the above photo) spoke on the event panel about her career, including 20 rewarding years in the mining and resources sector so far.
CME welcomes new South West Regional Officer
There will be a new face in the Bunbury office over the next six months as Sharon takes extended leave to go travelling across Australia.
Jason Mennell will be filling in to ensure the valuable work of our committees continues in Sharon’s absence. Jason is a seasoned journalist and spent the past four years at the Kalgoorlie Miner, where he spearheaded the newspaper’s mining coverage.
As well as ensuring continuity of service and advocacy to the CME’s member companies in the South West, Jason intends to leverage his media experience by shining a light on the positive contributions the mining industry makes to the region.
