The annual Inspiring Girls Career Forum in August saw CME Digital Technologies Program coordinator Asta Morton hosting fun activities highlighting the Digital Technologies Challenge Kit. While the kit on display is designed for use in primary school classes, this didn’t stop more than 300 high school girls in attendance enjoy programming Bee-Bots to collect lollies around a map of the Pilbara.
The games provided a great opportunity to discuss the impact Digital Technologies is having on jobs now and into the future, and why increasing skills in STEM will be important. The expo area also included a variety of stations for the students to engage with member companies and learn about career pathways into the mining and energy sector.
CME has received interest from a number of schools in the Midwest and Northern Goldfields wishing to engage their students in the program. Members who may be interested in supporting schools in these regions with the purchase of a Challenge Kit, please contact a.morton@cmewa.com or 0498 341 776 for more information.
