June 2021 started with Ryan O’Hanlon, CME Manager – Goldfields, heading to Collie to attend CME’s South West Regional Council meeting. This was an opportune time to meet with industry representatives from the South West region and discuss industry-related topics.
On June 16 the Goldfields Esperance Business Register held an inaugural Meet The Suppliers Expo, organised by CME, the Goldfields Esperance Development Commission and the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This very successful event offered an opportunity for suppliers to meet and discuss procurement matters with key mining organisations and tier one contractors. More than 200 people attended, with 20 Goldfields organisations presenting, another 26 occupying stalls and a well-attended sundowner very kindly sponsored by Westernex and Uon Power and Water Solutions.
Meanwhile, the G E Business Register itself continues to grow and now has more than 350 businesses registered. The platform allows local businesses the opportunity to improve their visibility to suppliers and purchasers and to register as a supplier to the mining industry, and showcase their skills and capabilities to mining companies.
The Kalgoorlie Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI) is the dedicated resource looking after the Register, and will help Goldfields businesses to sign up and answer any of their questions.
