The State Government announced 134 occupations from high demand industries had been added to the WA Skilled Migration Occupation List. At least 40 of the additional occupations are of relevance to the resources sector, including high demand occupations such as:
- Automotive electricians
- Motor mechanics
- Electricians
- Fitters
- Mine managers
- Engineers
- Surveyors
- Geologists
The announcement came shortly after the introduction of a Priority Skilled Migration Occupation List (PMSOL) by the Federal Government. The PMSOL intent is to support COVID economic recovery by providing priority allocation for visa processing, and a pathway through the international border for individuals employed in critical occupations.
