The Resources and Industry Training Council (RITC) presented at the South West Human Resources Forum held at the CME’s Bunbury office last month.
At the forum, RITC’s Amanda Hamilton revealed the key findings of the State Priority Occupation List – a body of research probing labour market supply and demand, skilling priorities, and pathways to employment.
As well as providing an overview of some of the causes behind the bottlenecks in labour supply, the forum was an opportunity for CME’s member companies to provide feedback on some of the challenges they face while outlining initiatives for staff attraction and retention.
In the interim, CME South West regional officer Jason Mennell spent much of July catching up with member companies to hear and learn about the important roles they play in the communities in which they operate.
This included enlightening face-to-face discussions with Aurizon, BlackBox Control, Arc Infrastructure and GHD.
Jason also caught up with Shire of Collie chief executive Stuart Devenish, who filled the CME in on a stream of interesting developments in the pipeline for the coal-mining town.
