The last South West Regional Council (SWRC) meeting for the year was held on Wednesday December 1 at CME’s new Bunbury office, overlooking the City of Bunbury’s Christmas Tree at Guppy Park.
At the request of the South West Collaboration Working Group, the meeting included a presentation by Asta Morton, CME’s Digital Technologies Coordinator on the Digital Technologies program. The program was created in partnership with members of the Pilbara Collaboration and is currently being piloted in Pilbara schools. The SWRC endorsed further investigation into how the companies can potentially support the roll-out of the program across South West schools in the coming years.
The meeting date also coincided with the State Government’s deadline for the first mandatory vaccination for workers in the mining and resources sector, which generated some discussion, particularly in relation to the collection and maintenance of records.
The meeting concluded with an informal sundowner to celebrate the end of another challenging yet successful year, just before Bunbury’s new Mayor, Jaysen De San Miguel, officially lit the lights on the Christmas tree.
The Bunbury office will close for the Christmas break on December 24 and reopen on January 10.
