The South West Water Security sub-committee met for the first time this year on 25 January in Bunbury. The meeting featured a presentation from South32 on a successful research initiative at its South African coal operations between industry, government, research organisations and academia who collaborated to develop innovative solutions in response to declining water resources.
This was followed by a presentation from key leaders at Curtin’s research partnerships division about how the university could potentially partner with government, private water providers and industry on a research project relating to future water security for mining and processing operations in the South West.
The South West Human Resources Forum, the Collaboration Working Group and the COVID-19 Regional Community Response Working Group meeting will be held over the next few weeks.
