The South West is experiencing declining rainfall, which is posing a challenge for mining and processing operations. The sector is a leader in water-saving technologies and innovation, however contingency measures are being investigated to ensure continuity of operations.
Following on from a presentation by Water Corporation and Harvey Water at the South West Regional Council meeting in December, CME hosted a water security meeting on May 13 for members to explore opportunities to maximise available water resources and infrastructure, as well as potential solutions for the future. The group will meet again in July.
