Manager – Goldfields
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia is the peak advocacy body for the resources sector in WA. We are a proud, member-funded, not-for-profit organisation that represents the views and the needs of our members and provide an avenue for members and stakeholders to collaborate. CME leads policy development and advocates on the issues impacting the sector.

This position is primarily accountable for developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in order to identify and manage risks and opportunities for collaborative Goldfield regional initiatives on behalf of CME, in line with CME’s strategic objectives.
What will you be doing?
Reporting to the State Manager – Regional WA, you will:
- Advocate on behalf of member organisations at a regional level, in line with agreed outcomes.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including existing and potential members; local, state, and federal government representatives and community stakeholders.
- Plan and organise regional site visits for government delegations, key interest groups, and others to increase awareness and understanding of our sector.
- Assist with CME initiatives aimed at retaining and attracting members.
- Deliver regular and targeted communication and engagement activities to promote the sector’s value proposition, participation in, and contribution to the local community.
- Contribute to CME publications, and prepare and produce other industry-relevant publications as required.
- Identify developments and provide an avenue for understanding and awareness of portfolio issues that may affect key stakeholders.
- Manage portfolio committees, ensuring effective engagement with our members and external stakeholders, including the preparation of agenda materials, keeping minutes, and general servicing of committees.
- Identify and facilitate collaborative responses to regional specific issues, implementing proposals where relevant.
- As part of the Policy and Advocacy team, contribute to the management of general issues affecting the Western Australian resources sector that may arise from time to time.
- Prepare briefings, reports, and submissions on behalf of CME and its members.
What are we looking for in you?
- A relevant tertiary qualification, with 7+ years’ work experience.
- Working knowledge and experience relevant to the resources sector.
- Understanding of State and Federal government policy development processes.
- Excellent communication and consultation skills for gathering information from key stakeholders and providing advice and information to targeted bodies.
- Strong people and relationship management skills.
- Organisational and administrative skills that demonstrate an ability to plan and coordinate a range of initiatives and projects in a complex environment, in addition to attending to specific details.
- Project management skills, in particular the capacity to manage several diverse projects at one time and achieve outcomes.
- Strong strategy development or policy skills, with demonstrated analytical, research, and writing experience.
- Networking skills to assist in raising the profile of industry issues amongst key stakeholders.
- Research and report writing skills, including the ability to synthesise information and data and present it in a logical and organised way.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- A flexible and collaborative approach, with a passion for results.
