“CME wishes Ken Wyatt all the best as the first Aboriginal person to be Minister for Indigenous Affairs and the first Indigenous MP to serve in Cabinet in Australia’s history. The resources sector works very closely with Indigenous communities across the state, so it’s pleasing to have a WA based minister that we can work with,” said Mr Everingham.
“It’s also pleasing to see Mathias Cormann retain the Finance portfolio, Christian Porter stay on as Attorney General and the new Minister for Industrial Relations, Michaelia Cash rejoins cabinet as Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, and Linda Reynolds as the new Minister for Defence. The greater representation Western Australia has in the cabinet the better outcomes we should expect to see for the state.”
Mr Everingham also congratulated WA MP Ben Morton for his appointment as Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Steve Irons for being reappointed as an Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Training and Apprenticeships.

As a Minister he has a thorough understanding of the importance of the resources sector and the significant contribution it makes to the economy and local communities and how it needs to remain globally competitive,” added Mr Everingham.
