The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) has welcomed today’s official opening of the Ungani onshore oilfield in the Kimberley region. The project is a joint venture between Buru Energy and Mitsubishi Corporation.
CME Chief Executive Reg Howard-Smith said the Kimberley region would benefit from economic developments offered by the resources sector.
“Whilst the project will deliver royalties to the State Government, positives opportunities will also flow to the local community over time. Most importantly traditional owners and the local community will benefit from projects such as Ungani,” said Mr Howard-Smith.
“The joint venture partners should be congratulated in achieving today’s important milestone,” said Mr Howard-Smith.
