The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) welcomes today’s announcements by the Premier and Minister for State Development, Hon Colin Barnett MLA outlining significant investments in the Pilbara town of Onslow.
“The State Government’s commitment of around $70 million of investment from various government agencies will improve the amenities available and the quality of life for Onslow residents,” said CME Chief Executive Reg Howard-Smith.
Funding will enable development of key projects including a new hospital, swimming pool, upgrades to Onslow road, and new airport runway and terminal
“The State Government’s announcement comes on top of Chevron Australia’s commitment of more than $250 million to infrastructure in Onslow. BHP Billiton contribution towards community infrastructure will also improve local amenities,” said Mr Howard-Smith.
“The strong partnership approach will ensure the ongoing, sustainable growth of Pilbara communities, to the benefit of industry and local residents,” said Mr Howard-Smith.
