The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME) acknowledged the State Governments determination of environmental appeals on the proposed uranium mine near Wiluna.
“Today’s announcement is another small but important step forward for the uranium industry in WA,” CME Chief Executive Reg Howard-Smith said.
“The high level of scrutiny and thorough consultation on this project should give the community confidence that the Uranium industry is committed to meeting all environmental and safety requirements.
“With increasing understanding we hope to see public opinion leading to greater acceptance, underpinned by the State government’s commitment to a world best practice uranium mining industry.
“For the WA resources sector to continue to thrive, it’s important we are embracing new commodities like Uranium. CME has always supported the industry as it broadens the state’s resource export base, will deliver jobs and opportunities for Western Australians and, importantly, helps reduce global carbon emissions.
“CME looks forward to a positive final decision from the Environment Minister.”
