CME leads a range of initiatives to promote workplace gender diversity and advocate for career opportunities for everyone in the Western Australian resources sector. Current initiatives, driven by the People Strategies portfolio include:
- Gender Diversity Reference Group – to discuss emerging and escalating gender diversity issues, to provide input into associated CME policy and initiative development and to promote greater collaboration through sharing of gender diversity best practise and research.
- CME Women in Resources Awards – an annual Western Australian based awards initiative to promote the sector as an exciting and rewarding career option for women and to advocate industry best practice and approaches in workforce diversity. The awards are presented at a breakfast event coinciding with International Women’s Day which attracts around 1000 people. To visit the Women in Resources Awards page click here.
- Inspiring Girls Initiative – to inspire greater numbers of female school students to follow in the footsteps of inspiring female role models working in the Western Australian Resources sector. As part of the Women in Resources Awards, Inspiring Girls provides the opportunity for students to interact with industry representatives and reinforces company commitments to promoting greater gender diversity across the sector .
Diversity in the Western Australian Resources Sector Survey – a biennial survey to provide a snapshot of diversity within CME member companies. Analysis of this data is used to guide the development of CME strategy and policy responses regarding the employment of women and indigenous people. The latest survey can be found here.
