General Manager Integrated Planning & HIVE · Fortescue
About
Emma has built a 20-year career at the intersection of technology, operations and supply chain transformation. Holding a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences (Hons) and an MBA, she began her career in simulation modelling and joined BHP’s Integrated Planning division, developing early expertise in optimisation and systems thinking. Her subsequent leadership in digital and automation projects across BHP’s energy coal, freight, petroleum, nickel and iron ore operations delivered significant efficiency and production gains across global assets.
In 2024, Emma joined Fortescue as General Manager of Integrated Planning and the Hive (IPATH), leading the remote command centre that connects autonomous mining, fixed-plant operations and scheduling across the Pilbara. She led the creation of an energy-aware production planning tool that enabled record production throughput in FY25, reducing scenario-planning time from days to minutes. By connecting business-wide teams, data and systems, her team has enabled faster, smarter decision-making for the entire value chain.
Emma is now leading the transformation of IPATH to align with Fortescue’s Real Zero 2030 targets, embedding renewable-energy and decarbonisation data into next-generation planning and operational systems. A strong advocate for people development and inclusion, she has reimagined IPATH’s School-Based Trainee Program to focus on digital and autonomous operations, giving diverse students hands-on exposure to the technologies shaping mining’s future.
